Inside Hongbo Purification: A 10,000 m2 Facility Built Around Self-Cleaning Air Filters

Anyone buying industrial filtration eventually asks the same question: who actually builds the thing, and in what kind of building? For a self-cleaning air filter that will sit in front of an air compressor or a blast furnace blower for a decade, the answer matters more than the brochure photographs suggest. So here is ours, in plain numbers.

Where we are, and how much space we use

Wuxi Hongbo Purification Equipment Co., Ltd. sits in the Hudai Industrial Park in Binhu District, Wuxi, Jiangsu — a stretch of land on the western shore of Taihu Lake that has been an industrial cluster for decades. The site covers 10,000 square meters in total, of which 6,500 square meters is enclosed production space. The remainder carries the yard, loading and unloading access, and storage for filter media and steel stock.

That split is worth noting. A large share of the footprint being under roof is what allows us to keep pleated filter media, diamond-mesh outer cages and machined end caps under controlled conditions rather than stacked outdoors. Filter media is the single most damage-prone input in this business: a roll of high-efficiency paper that has absorbed humidity will not pleat cleanly, and the resulting cylinder will never seal properly.

Who works here

The company employs around 80 people. The team includes engineers with more than twenty years of hands-on experience in air purification, plus production, quality and service staff. Two of the long-standing technical staff came out of the compressor and air separation accessory business, which is why our filters were designed first against real installation constraints — space envelopes, flange dimensions, service access — rather than against a clean sheet of paper.

Annual production capacity is RMB 80 million in output value, with a throughput of roughly 350 sets of self-cleaning air filters per year, alongside the K-type high-efficiency filter cylinders that go into them.

What the production floor actually contains

The workflow runs from incoming material to packed set: sheet metal forming for the housing and filter boxes, pleating and media preparation, cage and end-cap assembly, then final assembly and pressure and leakage checks. Dedicated test equipment sits at the end of the line, because a self-cleaning filter is a mechanical assembly as much as a filtration product — the reverse-jet cleaning mechanism, the drive, and the sealing surfaces all have to work together before the media ever gets tested.

This is also where our non-standard customisation work happens. The ZKL series is a standard platform, but a large part of our output is adapted: different connection sizes, different arrangement of coarse and high-efficiency stages, different cleaning control logic. Doing this in-house rather than through subcontractors is the reason we can quote unusual configurations without adding weeks to a lead time.

Why the building shape matters to your specification

Three practical consequences follow from running this kind of facility ourselves:

Media and cylinders stay consistent. Because pleating and assembly are under one roof and one quality system, we can trace a finished cylinder back to the media batch it came from. When a customer reports a pressure drop above expectation, that trace is what makes the problem solvable.

Non-standard requests are routine, not exceptional. Compressor stations, oxygen plants, steel mill blowers, gas turbines and long-running diesel engines each impose different air volumes and dust loads. Having forming, pleating and assembly on the same site means a modified housing is a scheduling question rather than a project.

Service and spare parts stay available. Filter cylinders are consumables over a multi-year horizon. Producing them ourselves, in the same plant, with the same tooling, is what keeps a replacement cylinder dimensionally identical to the original five years later.

We have been at this since 25 April 2003, founded by Xu Xiaoliang and Zhang Yuexiang. The building has been expanded, the environmental protection acceptance was completed in 2019, and the registered address and business scope were updated in November 2024 to cover environmental protection equipment manufacturing, gas purification equipment production, and import and export trading. If you are specifying filtration for a new compressor station or replacing an existing filter box, our engineers are happy to start from your air volume and dust load rather than from our catalogue.
